After graduating from the Photography Academy, Johan primarily dedicated himself to the art of moving images. Still photography remained a personal pursuit used for fine art, color studies, lighting experiments, and composition tests.  Since 2023, Johan has been creating staged commissioned work, blending cinematic sensibilities with a photographer’s eye. He shoots both on film and digitally, working exclusively with continuous lighting and prime lenses.

In collaboration with Michel Mölder, Johan presented his first art series ‘Sunshine Royale Motel’ during a joint exhibition in Amsterdam.
